Fiji U19s face Tongans in warm-up
In preparation for next month’s IRB World Championships, the Fiji U19s team will host their Tongan counterparts in a friendly fixture this Friday, 16 March in Sigatoka.
The match, which will give Fiji U19 coach Josua Toakula a great chance to test his side before they leave for Belfast, will kick off at 6:30pm at Lawaqa Park.
“The game has been scheduled in the evening because both teams will play night fixtures in Belfast next month,” FRU’s High Performance Manager Peter Murphy explained.
“Tonga are coming to Fiji for this warm-up game prior to heading north, and this provides an excellent opportunity to give both teams a valuable practice match before they take on the top teams at the World Championships.”
In Belfast next month, Fiji face South Africa, Australia and Scotland before entering the knock-out stages.
Tonga play Uruguay, Italy and the Cook Islands in Division B.
