Quotes:
Eddie Waqa (Highlanders coach)
“We couldn't get much territorial advantage and because of poor touch-finding we had to defend a lot in the game. We made some careless mistakes in the crucial stages, too easily turning over possession when getting close to the line. Communication was another weakness there were no communication and that resulted in players bumping another player. Apart from that, our set pieces were alright.”
“We came today planning to take the game inside the Stallions territory, but we only did that for the first 15 minutes. Bill Gadolo and Sunia Koto were good in the sense that they held the forwards together. We have a young side compared to the Stallions and taking part in the Colonial Cup has really developed their skills. It’s been a good experience for them.”
Joji Rinakama (Stallions coach)
“Our forwards really played well. I told the boys to observe our opponents closely. When we attack, see how they defend, and when we defend, watch how they attack. So when they tried to go wide, we closed them down. When they closed the game, we opened the game. That's how we managed to beat them.”
“We tried to use that last weekend against the Crusaders but we couldn't, so there was a great improvement today. Rupeni Nasiga and Koki Vuicuvu stood out their general play and positional play was great. Nasiga was good with the high ball, and Koki was good on defence, and on attack he managed to get us past the advantage line.”
“The Highlanders gave us a good game and were now looking forward to the final against the Crusaders.”
