Luveitasau try seals Naitasiri victory
A late try from hard-working wing Mosese Luveitasau sealed a 13-8 victory for Naitasiri as they defeated holders Suva for the Sullivan-Farebrother Trophy in front of a packed crowd at the National Stadium.
The Highlanders were dominant in the scrums and mauls, and defensively kept the Suva backline in check.
But Suva appeared to be heading for a successful defence when Waisale Serevi levelled the scores with a 46th minute penalty until Luveitasau hounded Suva fullback Beni Soso chasing a long kick.
The Fiji winger tackled Soso as he tried to gather the ball on the goal-line. The ball spilled loose and Luveitasau jumped up and dived onto the ball to score.
Semisi Muakalou scored a try in the first half for Naitasiri, while some wonderful work from Sireli Naqelevuki allowed Daniele Tabuakuru to touch down for Suva.
