President Ratu Josefa Iloilo gives his blessings to the Digicel Fiji 7s team

Two new faces for Dubai and George

Digicel Fiji 7s coach Waisale Serevi has named his 12-member squad for the first leg of the IRB World 7s Series in Dubai and George, giving Amenasi Nava and Napolioni Nalaga their big breaks at national level.

The duo are the only two newcomers in the squad, although Bruce Rauqe is making his first appearance since 2001.

Also included in the squad is South Africa-based Sireli Naqelevuki.

“Sireli’s power and experience will be vital in this first leg, as I believe it’s important we get off to the best possible start,” Serevi said. “Rauqe too, with his height and pace, gives us lots of options in the forwards.”

Serevi believes the task this year in defending the IRB World Series will be even tougher than last year.

“The job this year is going to be harder than it was last year as now we’re the defending champions and everyone will want to knock us off our perch,” the coach said.
