Fiji in strong London pool
The Digicel Fiji 7s team head a strong Pool A at the Emirate Airlines London 7s next month with France, Argentina and Russia. The San Diego and Adelaide 7s champions lead the IRB table on 104 points and are top seeds.
France and Argentina will have to improve if they are to upset the world champions following their Bowl semi-finals losses to Wales and Tonga, respectively, in Adelaide.
Hosts England face a daunting challenge on day one, drawn alongside the might of South Africa, Wales and Portugal in Pool D.
Having almost reached the summit of the 7s game over the past two seasons, England have lost ground on the top sides this year and are still looking for a first Cup win of the season at Twickenham, the seventh event in the IRB Series.
Fiji’s island rivals Samoa are the only other side to have captured two titles and currently lie second, 10 points behind Fiji. They face Adelaide Plate winners Australia in Pool B as well as Canada and Georgia.
Third seeds New Zealand, who have lost in three consecutive semi-finals to Fiji, line up in Pool C against Scotland, Kenya and Italy.
