Hard-working, physical flanker who skippered Fiji at the 2003 Rugby World Cup. Doviverata's discipline saw him return in 2006 to add strength to the Fiji engine room when they defeated the heavier Samoans 23-20.
Having established himself in the Fiji 7s team, Doviverata made his full Test call-up on the tour to Italy just before the 1999 Rugby World Cup and was part of Fiji’s RWC squad that year.
"Dovi" then earned a regular starting place in the loose forwards under late coach Greg Smith in 2000-01. He took over as national 15s skipper for the November 2001 tour of Europe. Under Mac McCallion, Dovi cemented his place as No.8, and was named skipper against Tonga in July 2003, a position he retained for the World Cup.
A national schoolboy rep in 1993 and 1995, Dovi first played for the Fiji 7s team in 1996 before spending one season with Redruth in England. Travelling to Durban and Dubai for the opening two IRB 7s tournaments of the 2000-01 season, Dovi showed his strength with a thumping tackle on New Zealand’s Dallas Seymour that laid the Kiwi out cold.
Unlucky to miss out on a trip to the World Cup Sevens in 2001, Dovi returned for the Hong Kong and Shanghai tournaments that year and was named skipper for the Malaysia 7s. His power was also felt by Elton Flatley in June 2003 when a perfectly timed tackle in Fiji’s match against Queensland saw the Wallaby fly-half stretchered off.
Since March 2002, he has plied his trade in Japan with Yamaha, then Tokyo Gas.
Finished his contract with Tokyo Gas in 2007 and returned to skipper the FMF Flying Fijians against Samoa in Apia.
